hearing aid fittings & verification

Hearing aids are fit using a patients’ unique audiometric information gathered from the hearing test. This information is entered into computer programming software, and a prescription is used to help generate a target value for the amount of volume needed at each pitch or frequency.

Hearing aids can be programmed, much like computers, based on the needs of the patient. Once the hearing aid is programmed, verification systems can help the audiologist measure how much gain or volume is actually entering the ear. This is an extremely important part of the fitting process as it accounts for everyone’s unique ear canal. This ensures an accurate fitting, which will yield optimal results, especially for speech understanding.
