signs of hearing loss
The most common sign of a hearing loss is difficulty hearing in the presence of background noise. If you notice that you or a family member has trouble hearing or distinguishing words in restaurants, crowds, or any situation where there is competing noise, we recommend scheduling a hearing test.
Other signs of hearing loss include :
- Difficulty hearing on the telephone.
- Turning the television or radio up louder than normal.
- Tinnitus (ringing in the ear).
- Peoples’ voices sounding muffled and unclear.
- Sensation of people mumbling.
- Asking people to speak slowly or more clearly.
- Asking “what” or “pardon” often.
- Inappropriate responses to questions or bluffing through conversation.
- Withdrawing from social settings.
